Since its establishment in 1985 the Cambridge Self-Help Food Bank has made an important contribution to the Cambridge and North Dumfries community. In return the community has responded generously with donations, fundraising, and food drives. As the number of families that we assist continues to grow your support is needed more than ever.

Your donation not only helps provide food to over 1000 low-income households and 37 community agencies, but also support programs that help families to move out of poverty.

FOOD

Reaching our food drive goals would not be possible without the many individuals, churches, grocery stores, fire halls, agencies, and businesses that generously support our drives each Spring and Fall.

Food drives are vital in providing a major source of staple food products. However, food donations play a critical role throughout the entire year in helping to keep our shelves stocked. During the summer months the Food Bank must often purchase food in order to maintain our level of support to clients.

How can you help?
Donations can be dropped off at the Cambridge Self-Help Food Bank or in grocery store bins throughout Cambridge. We can assist businesses, churches, and groups to organize food drives at any time of the year.

MONETARY

Over the past several years the Cambridge Self-Help Food Bank has seen enormous growth in demand for our services. Since 1991 the number of emergency hampers distributed each month has risen by 171%.

Financial donations, however, allow us to purchase items such as milk for families with children, peanut butter, and produce. Even the smallest donation can make a difference!

You can help by sending a donation or supporting a Cambridge Self-Help Food Bank fundraising event. Organize a fundraiser in your neighbourhood, workplace, business, church, or organization.

OTHER

In addition to food and financial donations there are numerous other ways that you can make a contribution to the Cambridge Self-Help Food Bank. Over the past year generous individuals and businesses have painted the exterior of our facility, donated large quantities of produce, supplied used technology equipment, made plumbing and electrical repairs, supplied no-cost printing, donated retail clothing stock, and contributed exceptional items for our silent auction fundraiser.

If you have a service, skill, or equipment that could benefit our organization we would be pleased to discuss this with you.

Good quality used business wear is needed throughout the year for our Career Clothing Room.
